SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL DISC JOCKEY by Joe Rudko

Even if they are familiar with the catalog of the kaleidoscopic slice and dice disc jockey RJD2, tube observers have probably heard his creations. You have undSport his work at Wells Fargo and Bank of America is owned, ads and a whole series of video-event footage. Recently, an instrumental version of his 2006 slinky tuneA Beautiful Mine was as the title music for the cable drama Men verwendetMad personally or on the screen, the Columbus native in demand. Born in Eugene, Ore., the man called Ramble John Krohn grew up in central Ohio, attending derFort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center and make musical ideas through the city underground BahnHip-hop scene. Well, he is a Global Traveler. With his own label – RJ's Electrical Connections – undläuft is the 33-year-old answers to himself. Krohn said recently from Philadelphia, where he has lived since 2002. Q Are the people from the wood after demMad human connection? A It seems like everyone knows it's something that I do now. It has not bestimmtverdreifacht the size of the venues I play. The more common experience tells fans she had no idea, I have the issue. Q What has changed the DJ as a source for licensed commercial music? A: I think every year there will be more acceptable. When I started, licensing music, I remember that quote-unquote "selling out" conversation. In the last three years or so, when you realize that no one make, sell records it, it seemed, everyone was like "(Expletive), we go for these licenses matter." However, having commenced fees decreased. Companies do not have the same top dollar sienoch spend a good five years ago, new pop song. Q When did you first hear the music in this context? A 2002, for Saturn cars. I was out of the room and I heard the song kommenauf. I called my girlfriend, "Why do you play this record?" And she was like "It's the television." Of course I knew it would be ventilated, but it was surreal. Q What are your goals in the AufnahmeDer Colossus? A predominantly only the experience of coming off (his third full-length album) The Third Hand, which was a kind of self-exile, as far as I get konntemeine own. (Collaboration) seemed just a fun and interesting way to go about making an album. Q You have talent dieCatalyst Columbus on the effort, including rapper and Illogic. Did they travel to Philadelphia to collect? A We have everything in the mail. I know I do not jemandüber my shoulder. I do my best to speak creatively, when I'm in my studio to work alone. Q The e-mail? How did that work? A: I would e-mail them the route, and we would get on the phone – this idea, dieLänge whether it be shortened, then who is the first to go. Sometimes the inclusion of music, many small steps forward. I work best do 15 minutes. . . a day on the song once or twice over two weeks instead of a "Blitzkrieg" for eight hours at a stretch. Q: Is there a meaning behind the album title? A He came from a (PlayStation 2) game called Shadow of the Colossus. It just kind of down. To a lesser extent, I feel like this record a kind of culmination of a series of DingenIch has had in the past 10 years. Q Describe your sampling process and the inspiration behind them. A I've always been a bottom-feeder. My best record-store experience is einmit a large, diverse Dollar Bin. Song I'm not looking for a great unreleased James Brown, I binSuche after a passage of music, not really about their work. My whole MO was to take something and improve on them. A lot of times when you are dekonstruierenund reassemble (a snapshot) with other elements, the sum is greater than its parts. Q: Is this legal? A It is not fair use clause of claim or recorded music. In essence, is basically a renegade art form. There is also a way that I relieve this way: I basically make sure everything I'm sampling hatseziert to us of the single-note hits, then I rearrange or put them into a new context. The point is that it is similar to as little as possible, which appeared on the original record, hopefully not umwerden identified. I have a really good idea of what I get away with it. Q As a DJ, what is your live performances on stage setup? A It's four people – a drummer, two multi-instrumentalist and boys dannmich. I spend about half of the show from me with the turntables and samplers. I play guitar and bass, and there's a song in which I play keyboard. Q With your new label, how does it feel to be your own boss? A Pretty big. It is exhausting – a big responsibility and a lot of bills to pay. I'm glad that I was the master himself on this recording. This is very exciting. kjoy@dispatch.com
